One club decides more of your final score than any other, and one club hides the most inside its spec sheet. Mass placement alone can swing launch and spin more than a full loft change.
Fixture First, Numbers Second
Before anyone swings a club, your current driver goes on the balance fixture so we know exactly where its mass sits on both axes — not a category off a hangtag, an actual measured position. From there the launch monitor takes over: ball speed, launch angle, spin rate, spin axis, and attack angle, logged on every single rep against demo heads pulled to match.
Put together, those two readings settle the real question sitting under every driver fitting — does a low-back, balanced, or high-forward head actually fit how you deliver the club, and does the head on the wall live up to what its box claims?
What Actually Moves During a Fitting
Loft
Half-degree steps through an adjustable hosel. Steeper attack angles usually need more static loft than the number on the hangtag suggests.
CG Position
Treated as its own variable, separate from loft — we run the head across several quadrants looking for the one that squares the face right where your release actually happens.
MOI & Head Design
Forgiveness scales with how far back and low the internal weight sits. Higher-MOI builds shrug off mishits; lower-MOI builds reward a player working the ball on purpose.
Length
A shorter driver that finds the center of the face more often usually beats a longer one chasing theoretical yardage.
Shaft
Weight and flex get tested alongside CG placement, never on their own — the three interact too much to fit in isolation.
Grip
Sizing gets checked on every driver session. The wrong diameter changes hand action enough to shift face angle without you ever noticing why.
Patterns a CG-Matched Driver Tends to Fix
Low, Knuckled Ball Flight
Often a mismatch between a high-forward head and not quite enough loft. Dropping to a lower, deeper head frequently gets the ball up without any change to flex.
Ballooning Into Wind
Usually the opposite problem — a low CG adding more spin than your release timing can use. A higher, more forward head, sometimes with a touch less loft, flattens it out.
Persistent Slice
Face-to-path is the root cause more often than not, but the right CG and loft pairing can shave real curvature off while the swing mechanics get sorted separately.
Scattered Strike Pattern
When contact is all over the face, a higher-MOI head paired with correct length and lie can pull that dispersion tight fast.
